RTSP Link DPCC — Generate & Integrate the Live Camera Feed
Most PTZ cameras are installed but never correctly linked to the DPCC portal because the RTSP feed is not generated or routed properly. We generate the RTSP link, configure the static IP or DDNS, register the feed on the DPCC portal and verify it live with the zonal officer.
A PTZ camera on the boundary is only half of the DPCC requirement. The portal needs a working RTSP URL that it can pull continuously, and this is where most installations fail. Installers mount the camera, run a cable to the recorder and consider the job done, leaving the project manager with a black box on the DPCC dashboard and a notice on the way.
We start by extracting the RTSP URL from the NVR or DVR, checking the codec, port and authentication settings, and testing the stream locally on the site network. If the camera manufacturer uses a non-standard path, we find it. If the recorder is configured for H.265+ while the portal expects H.264, we adjust the sub-stream to avoid a blank feed.
Next we solve the routing problem. A consumer broadband connection changes its public IP every few hours, so we either provision a static IP through the ISP or configure a reliable DDNS hostname with port forwarding on the site router. We also set up a separate VLAN or firewall rule so the camera feed is reachable by the DPCC server without exposing the entire site network.
With the RTSP URL and route in place, we log into the DPCC portal under your project, enter the camera credentials, channel number and stream URL, and then call the zonal officer to confirm the live preview is visible. Only when the officer sees a current frame do we hand over the configuration sheet and the mobile app login to your site team.
